I do not know if it's the same taste, because I have not been there, but Green Goddess was invented in San Francisco in the 20s, and here is the recipe:
Yields: 2 cups
Ingredients:
* 1 cup mayonnaise conventional (not Miracle Whip)
* 1 / 2 cup cream
* 1 / 4 cup fresh chives, chopped chives or scissors
* 1 / 4 cup fresh parsley
1 tablespoon lemon juice
* 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
* 3 anchovy fillets, rinsed, drained and chopped
* Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl, mix well. Taste and adjust seasoning. Use immediately, or to cover and refrigerate.
This is an I, but I use anchovy paste, which is in a tube, as I never know what will be done with a box of sardines. Not like them, except for dressing or Caesar dressing. I think the tube of anchovy paste, in supermarkets or delis.
